Challenge #1
Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology
A leading and growing biotechnology company in New England purchased an integrated pretreatment RO/EDI system for a cGMP-validated application. Since the system integrates some of the latest technologies of membranes, UV and EDI they required someone with the expertise and experience to commission the system, train personnel and be available for consultation.
Solution
Applied Water Solutions, Inc. met with the owner, contractor and
supplier of equipment to define the scope of the project, and set
a schedule. Applied Water Solutions, Inc. subsequently started the
system and within hours the system was exceeding all water quality
requirements.
Applied Water Solutions, Inc. also conducted a power point training
presentation, followed by a hands on demonstration of the equipment
to the validation group, users of the equipment, and owners.
Though the equipment is intended for USP purified water production,
it in fact exceeded WFI water quality specifications.
Challenge #2
Manufacturing, General Industry
A small industrial entrepreneurial company on the East Coast was
considering using high purity water in the production of their high
quality product. They were concerned the ‘larger’ water
companies would not give the project the attention it deserved,
and that the system may cost too much. They came to Applied Water
Solutions, Inc. for the solution.
Solution
AWS met with the client and explained the water guidelines of the different types of high purity water used across all industries: pharmaceutical/biotech, power industry, semiconductor and general industry. We then designed the system using the latest technologies of pretreatment, reverse osmosis, and electrodeionization.
The project met the client’s budget and the system is exceeding all customer expectations and supplying some of the purist water in the world. Applied Water Solutions, Inc. is now designing for future expansion.
Challenge #3
Power Industry, Condensate Polishing
A University installing new turbines for their expanded power plant was adding a new Cogeneration Facility, and needed to replace their existing water treatment system. The project required demolition of the existing system, temporary water service for their existing boiler feed equipment, and full treatment of water to produce 240,000-lb/hr steam. The system design had to be flexible enough to polish all the return condensate at 240,000 lb/hr, and provide 100% make-up.
Solution
Applied Water Solutions, Inc. brought together complementary companies that provided the expertise and equipment the client was looking for. A Plant Evaluation was conducted (PEP) to better define the scope of the project. Using a design build approach, the system was customized for the clients’ needs and space limitations. The system includes an on site regenerable demineralizer system, heat exchangers and neutralization system along with ancillary equipment.
